This time we´ve been guests at the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill within the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi under patronage of the former English 3*** Michelin Chef Marco Pierre White, www.fairmont.com/babalbahr/GuestServices/Restaurants/MarcoPierreWhiteSteakhouseandGrill.htm.
We left our shuttle in front of the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel at 7.30pm with still 91,4° F and were entering the truly amazing and beautiful lobby of the hotel to direvctly get to the basement to enjoy ourselves at the Chameleon Bar with some cocktails. I ordered a Vodka Lemon and was sadly informed that they do not have Bitter Lemon at the Bar. Nevertheless they served me a Vodka with a mixture of lemon which was simply not drinkable.
Luckily shortly after we were picked up and guided to our table in the restaurant. The very friendly and knowledgeable sommelier welcomed us with an introduction to the champagne selection by glass to start with. We ordered different classy champagnes, but sadly one of them was without sparkles at all. After mentioning this there was a new bottle opened and served a new glass right away.
Now we ordered our dishes and I decided for a Traditional Angus Beef Tartar, Violet Mustard Emulsion and Melba Toast to start with and a Worcestershire Marinated Angus Beef Tenderloin, New Potatoes with Stilton & Bacon, Port & Veal Jus Reduction as main course.
Then we were impressed with the very good bread selection with different creams with it followed by the very good Amuse Bouche, a Carpaccio of Wagyu Beef, Pommery Mustard Dressing and Maldon Salt Crackers.
Now the starters arrived and I truly was amazed about the fantastic prepared Angus Beef Tartar. Nobody could have made this one any better.
Sadly we had to wait a very long time for the main courses and got served as excuse a tasteless lemon sorbet in between.
Finally the main course arrived and made us forget the uninspired experience with the sorbet. It was an extraordinary soft and tasty Worcestershire Marinated Angus Beef Tenderloin. Honestly very well done and presented. We just were very confused and a bit disappointed, that after we questioned the waiter, the truffles sauce served with the main course was made with truffle oil.
We finished the meal with a Chivas Regal 15 years Malt Whiskey, the only not blended Whiskey from Chivas Regal. A truly good choice!
Everybody who wants to eat a good Steak and not being in a hurry in the UAE should definitely pass by at the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill.
