Start into the adventure
The days before starting our trip were very exciting. Amazing was Saturday where we met the two Chef icons in Germany Chef Heinz Winkler first and then Chef Eckart Witzigmann. Unforgettable moments in our lives. Further more we were attending the fabulous concept of Hangar 7 at Salzburg Airport and 2** Michelin Chef Silvio Nickol at the Schlosshotel Velden. In addition we met at the Gourmet Festival Chef Kim Suhyi, whom we meet again on our way back in Vienna and in Munich Chef Andreas Schweiger in his 1* Michelin rated Restaurant SHOWROOM, www.schweiger2.de.
Also we were checking together with Michelin star Chef Mansur Memarian how to cook on the highest level in our HYMER mobile home.
The actual start was when we were taking over our HYMER mobile home in Bad Waldsee.
On Monday we started to get to the home of all HYMER mobile homes and caravans to Bad Waldsee. HYMER is since ages producing the finest mobile homes and caravans and gave us for our Eastern Europe trip a HYMER B 614 SL, WOW!!! Having not been in a mobile home for years we were astonished what has changed over the years. We do have an integrated flat TV screen and satellite, a lightening better as in our homes and all other features you may imagine. On top of this the big mobile is easy to handle and almost to drive like a car. In addition the mobile home features a refrigerator with deep freezer, an baking oven with grill functions and three gas ranges which is all most important for a Chef. To find out more about our mobile home please have a look at www.hymer.com/cms/DE/reisemobile/Integrierte/b-klasse-sl/Grundrisse.html&singleview=28. The Director of Marketing personally gave us tips for our trip and wished us very well for what was now directly in front of us.
After starting our trip we enjoyed the breath taking Alps landscape, passing by Salzburg and Villach, heading to Ljubljana with stop over’s in Bled and Bohinj. There we met Chef Steve and his team where we stayed almost three days, see log book. Sadly the weather was no good at all, very cloudy, wet and cold. I just hope that we will have better weather over the next weeks, but this is always the risk when you start such a journey in late October.
On Saturday morning we started towards Lubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Slovenia is with only two million people a very little country, so is Ljubljana compared to other capitals on the planet. The historical city centre is packed with Bars and Cafes. Romantic buildings and lanes creating a very charming atmosphere. Our personal highlight was the promenade along the river Ljubljanica with its ornate bridges and gastronomy. (for more information please see our nightlife report)
I would have loved to stay longer in Lubljana to discover more about this wonderful city, but we had to hurry to not miss the caves of Postojna and Skocjan.
